This day and age, it seems like there is nothing left that is new. Trophy trucks doing barrel rolls hundreds of feet in the air off of a long ramp, a pseudo-astronaut skydiving from inner space, what else can there be? Stunts are like technological inventions, most people don’t realize there was something missing until one person has some hair-brained idea.
One of those wacky ideas came to realization recently. We’ve seen rock crawlers, and the relatively new classification, rock bouncers, do incredible feats before. The seemingly defy gravity with ease. Just this last week-end though, we have entered a new era. An era where rock bouncers perform a backflip on command. Yep. A back flip. At the Unlimited Off-Road American Show and Expo in Louisville, Kenthucky, the public lined up to witness the spectacle. Utilizing a 32-foot dirt ramp specifically designed for the task, racers from the Southern Rock Racing Series launched their rigs up the dirt from a relatively short distance.
Many attempted and many failed. Several ended up with some serious damage. During a freestyle romp a racer took a hard roll and bruised his lungs. The man of the hour though was Richie Keith. Also known as PlowBoy, Keith races an extremely stout rig dubbed the John Deere Buggy. Keith lined up the rig and stabbed the skinny pedal.
The flip almost looks as though it was in some Hollywood movie, like it was too perfect to be true. As you’ll see in the video above though, Keith might have been a bit bewildered when he landed. He quickly snaps out of it and later says “I won’t do that again.” Dangerous? Absolutely. An amazing stunt, you better believe it now that you’ve seen it.
