Ocotillo Wells, California may look like any old, dry, dreary desert but it’s a far cry from your ordinary waste land. This land is where the ringing amplifiers of Kyuss still echo in the distance and where Motocross legends such as Jeremy McGrath, Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams, and others have transformed this sandbox into their personal playground. Recently, Richer Racing and their Toyota race truck along with photographer Josh Bernard and his Ford F-150 prerunner ventured out to Ocotillo to leave some tracks of their own.
Steel Beasts Ride Through the Desert
Bernard captured this video of the two steel beasts cruising and racing through the desert set to an interesting polka-like soundtrack. The blue and white Toyota could be seen flying throw the air, creating mile high clouds of dust and getting airborne after blazing over a dune. The Toyota is the #1404 truck built for off road racer Dave Hough and has competed in the Battle for Prim. It’s equipped with a suspension made from two-inch 4130 Richer Links and four-inch King Kong shocks.

He knows the meaning of pilot the dune.
F-150 Rides the Surf
Bernard then took his white Ford F-150 prerunner nicknamed “Surf Ride” for his turn to play in the sandbox. His F-150 lived up to its name as it rode the sandy knolls as if they were killer swells. Richer Racing and Bernard had plenty of good ole off road fun this weekend. They took their trucks and made a playground out of these forsaken badlands.
