Mud bog trucks are nothing we haven’t seen before, but the days of bouncy air-shocks and sloppy handling are over. This white pickup mud truck has all the features we’d expect to see in a high horsepower, hi ground-clearance racer. Massive agricultural tires float this Chevy through the mud and over the jumps, and military axles lend incredible strength. A custom windshield washer setup keeps the visibility clear of mud, and an LED light bar lights the mud at night.
Powering this mud bog monster is a twin-turbo Duramax diesel. Exhaust exiting the bedsides this truck reflects aspects of desert, crawling, and mud trucks in one clean package. The delayed turbo spool of this rig is indicative of a pair of big turbos, on the boost this rig keeps the wheels turning and coal rolling around the short but intense track!
Well tuned airshocks suspend this impressive diesel, no bucking, bottoming out, or jacking is evident as the suspension follows the track. Keeping those giant axles in place is a custom four-link setup including sway bars. A defining characteristic of a long wheel-travel, four-link, is body roll that will make you tilt your head in fear of rolling a high center of gravity vehicle. This truck has managed to do away with nearly all the body roll and not sacrifice wheel travel.
If every mud truck was set up this well the sport would grow to a much broader audience. No longer viewed as the backwood engineering of off-road and diesel these trucks are engineered to a specific role and excel in the loose mud.
