Mark Kvamme, entrepreneur and venture capitalist by day, and race car driver at night (or day depending on the event), has more than likely had his share of accolades, but this one is an award he received by accident (so to speak). It’s an honor he may or may not be proud of, regardless of the fame it has brought him.
The Off Road Championship (TORC) Series of short-course off-road racing recently crowned Mark Kvamme the winner of the TORC “2014 Wreck of the Year.” After watching the incredible wipeout and multiple rolls and flips in the video above, you might feel the same way TORC did.
Although Kvamme spends most of his time directing investments and looking for new financial opportunities, he does a bit of road racing in sports cars (competing at Le Mans has been one of the highlights of his road racing career), but he also loves to get dirty and has been riding off-road motorcycles most of his life. That love of motorcycles led him to race trucks in the TORC Series of short-course off-road racing.
The exciting endo for which TORC has awarded him “2014 Wreck of the Year,” occurred at the 2014 TORC Series Championship event held every year at one of the most action-packed and exciting short-course off-road race tracks in the country, the Crandon International Off-Road Speedway, located just outside Crandon, Wisconsin.
The crash begins, as so many crashes do, with a slight deviation from the line, at exactly the wrong time, as Kvamme is about to launch his truck from a jump on the course. The resulting flip, nose-dive, endo, and roll with a twist is frighteningly violent, but remarkably and luckily, Kvamme was uninjured, if not a little shaken. Enjoy the mayhem, and the phenomenal driving on the part of Ross Hoek (#10) to avoid entanglement. For more great crash videos, check out Off Road Xtreme.
