King of the Hammers (KOH) to many can be considered the hardest off-road race in the United States, if not the world. It may only be in its eleventh year, have drivers with two wins, but there is only one three-time champ – Shannon Campbell.
Shannon won his first KOH in 2008, second in 2011, and three-peated in 2017. Since the beginning, Currie Enterprises has been a part of the journey. “Shannon is the only IFS car to win King of the Hammers, let alone twice,” John Currie said. “His first win was in a straight axle car, but all the vehicles have been Currie equipped.”
The Currie team came together the Monday after the race to design and create the ultimate trophy. When the dust settle what would be better than a trophy that would complement the product Currie produces and the one that is on the racecar, than one of Currie’s housings.
The team worked all week to get the project together to drive out to Shannon’s shop and surprise him just a couple days later. The gold, green, and black trophy was something that Shannon was surprised to receive, let alone even see John at his shop delivering parts.

“There is no way I would have been able to do it without Currie,” Shannon said. “With all the parts I go through because I can’t see half the time, there is no way that I would be able to do this without the Currie family. This is the coolest trophy I have every received.”
With the 2017 King of the Hammers in the books, it is time to look at next year’s race and see if Shannon and the Currie team can go back to back. Do you think Shannon can win back to back races? Tell us in the comments below!
