Pro 4 trucks have blazed the desert, raced through the dirt and romped in the mud. Now they have head to conquer a new element: snow. The Red Bull Frozen Rush brought Pro 4 race trucks to the mountains of Maine for a head-to-head battle in the powder.
Ricky Johnson, Johnny Greaves, Carl Renezeder, and a few more of your favorite drivers took their 900-horsepower Pro 4 trucks to the snow. These guys have mastered the dirt of Crandon and the dunes of Glen Helen, but the frozen hills of Maine were an entirely new challenge.
Armed with prototype spiked tires manufactured by the BFGoodrich Tire R&D team, Red Bull drivers put their skills to the test as they pushed their machines to the limit. Their trucks blasted around the course throwing large clouds of powder into the air, as the drivers not only battled each other, fellow competitors, but the elements as well.
Ricky Johnson and Johnny Greaves go head-to-head on the icy track.
The Frozen Rush took place on a specially built snow-covered track, on the grounds of Maine’s Sunday River Resort. The track was built using the natural slopes of the resort, and it sports sharp turns, several small jumps, a snowy table top and a large icy jump. The 2014 Red Bull Frozen Rush event was held on January 10, 2014. It will air on NBC, February 2 (Sunday), 2014, at 3:00 p.m. ET, as part of the Red Bull Signature Series.
Looks like the polar vortex has some benefits after all, allowing off-road racing fans to continue enjoying the sport during the winter season. Check out this POV video below of Ricky Johnson’s incredible drive! Who is stoked for more Red Bull Frozen Rush events?
