Recently, Ford and Ferrari locked horns over the trademark issue revolving around the F150 name, which the Italian supercar maker wanted to call its next model. Ford came out on top in that issue, and the two companies have continued on their merry way, sharing very little save a mutual distaste for each other.
But Mastershift has brought the two brands together with one of its newest products, paddle shifters for the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. Mastershift demonstrated this sweet new way to shift your off-road ride on Icon Vehicle Dynamic’s wicked Raptor.
Mastershift’s RF paddles work when the Raptor is put into manual mode, and features two paddles attached just behind the steering wheel. The right paddle is your upshifter, while the left paddle downshifts, just like the paddle shifters in many new Ferraris. With six speeds to shfit through, paddle shifters can make your American pickup feel even more like an Italian supercar.
It’s very simple, and very effective, giving you the feeling of operating a manual transmission truck, minus the clutch pedal. Mastershift has won several innovation awards for its products, and it’s definitely easy to see why. With Italian and German supercar makers increasingly turning to paddle shifters in the place of floor shifters, automotive trends are shifting once more, and the future of shifting seems to be on the steering wheel.
Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing at all – stay tuned!
