Open desert, high mountains, slippery rocks, thousands of people, screaming V8s: these are some of the sights and sounds of King of the Hammers, held every year in Johnson Valley in Southern California. The famous scorching temperatures of the region aren’t in full effect during the race (typically held in early February), but everyone can feel the heat–of competition.
Our coverage of the event earlier this year gave you the inside look of the event, from the can-crushing spectators to the epic trucks to the hardy racers and their crews. Now, it looks like Heavymetal Concepts and Hammerking Productions are going to give us the “AAA” documentary we’ve craved with a forthcoming release: The Kingdom.
This trailer was uploaded to the Ultra4 Racing – King of The Hammers YouTube channel earlier this week. It only clocks in at one minute and 24 seconds, but that’s more than enough time to give us a taste of what’s to come. It will at least keep us held over until the release date, slated for sometime in September.
It looks like there will be plenty of slow-motion footage in 'The Kingdom'!
Just going by the high quality of the clips and music used, we think this movie will do justice on the core qualities that make up KOH. Its colorful characters, brutal terrain, and sheer size make it a unique spectacle, and one we can’t wait to experience again in 2016.
What did you think of the teaser? Are you patient enough to hold out until next month to see this epic film? Or are you dying to see this potential masterpiece right away? Give us your two cents in the comments below.
