On May 23, 2019, the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) held their ninth annual “Topless in Miami Presented by Haartz” convertible and panoramic sunroof competition event. Held at the Ritz-Carlton Resort Key Biscayne in Miami, the event brought in many different types of vehicles.
Among the vehicles was a hot off the showroom floor Jeep Gladiator. Not surprisingly, the JT Gladiator received the “Best Truck” award. Also backing up the FCA line up was the 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which won the Panoramic Utility Vehicle award. This is Alfa Romeos third consecutive win for the brand and second in a row for the Stelvio QV.

“Our members especially enjoyed driving the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, which combines pickup truck and Jeep attributes along with the unique experience of open-air driving,” said SAMA President Paul Borden. “The Jeep Gladiator offers great functionality, versatility and capability, making it the ultimate vehicle for any outdoor, open-air adventure.”
The Gladiator is currently the only production pick-up with a full convertible roof. Building off of the well-built foundation of the Jeep Wrangler and it’s soft top success, the new truck is expected to continue to win awards.
SAMA has organized the event since 2011 and Haartz, the top-leading convertible fabric developer and producer has been the title sponsor since 2015. SAMA is a group of automotive journalists, media and marketing representatives and many others that are related to South Florida’s automotive industry. Their goal is to provide a platform for automotive media to meet and greet, network and discuss the industry, especially in the South. SAMA has many other events and gatherings for its members.
