How many cameras does it take to capture everything on a truck during a short course race? The answer may surprise you. In a recent article we covered how GoPro was able to give viewers a 360 degree view on a short course truck during a race, but we take a closer look at what it takes to setup a video like that.
In one of GoPros most recent videos they show everything on how they setup the father son duo of the Greaves trucks for a race. They set the truck up with a total of 16 cameras and all different angles. The video shows the GoPro team placing and testing cameras in all sorts of places.
There is plenty of thought that needs to go into what to capture during the race. What happens in the race will only happen that one time, so timing is everything. Suspension, driver, helmet, rear, and front of the truck are all covered.
The time that it takes in setup is all worth it in the end with the footage they captured. They test every camera and the angle that it is set at to make sure the view is correct.
One thing that we liked in the video was on particular shots they showed what setting was on the camera. There is more to the camera then meets the eye, and most GoPro users do not even scratch the surface on what the camera’s capabilities are.
GoPro ended up using a total of 65 GoPros, and captured 2,960 GB worth of video during the three day shoot. Seeing a video like this makes us want to take out our GoPros and set them up on our truck. With the added insight from this video we can be sure our next shoot is perfect!
