Video: Expedition Overland Heads Through Baja

The guys with Expedition Overland are living the dream week to week. Even when things go in a direction that the team hadn’t predicted, we can all agree it’d be better to be hanging out with your buddies and four-wheeling than it would be working the daily grind.

Today’s episode covers the EO adventure as it descend further south into Baja California. Home to the famous Baja 1000 and countless trails, the peninsula is an off-road hotspot the world over, but that’s not to say it’s easy to get through.

That’s partially what the crew is learning in this video. Starting with a dead dolphin stinking up the nearby beach in San Felipe, things only get worse as it’s discovered that a busted power steering hose has left one of the two 5th-generation Toyota 4Runners stranded. It takes a little while, but soon enough, the guys are back on the trail.

A drive down the coastline deposits EO in Estrella, where the team gets to meet Ivan “Ironman” Stewart, the living legend of off-road racing. Stewart takes the group on a tour of the estate, checking out trinkets, projects, awards, and other items of interest. He leaves them with a map marking off some great campsites to peruse as the journey heads ever southward.

The next stop takes EO to Coco’s Corner, that wispy dot on the Baja map that’s attracted all walks of life in the peninsula. Beer cans, bumper stickers, and the man himself make this Mexican pitstop a must for fans of off-road racing. After talking with Coco and enjoying a cold cerveza, the crew saddles up once again and crosses over to the southern side of the peninsula.

The third day takes place in Santa Rosalia, where a church designed by Gustave Eiffel (of Eiffel Tower fame), the Iglesia de Santa Barbara, has stood upright for over 100 years. Night follows as the guys head down to the Bay of Conception, close to 40 miles away and once again in full view of the ocean.

These and other sights and sounds made this installment of Expedition Overland yet another treat to the eyes and ears. To follow more on the EO adventure through Baja, find their channel on YouTube and hit “Subscribe” when you see it.
