Those that shoot videos of off-roading have understood one thing – the simplest premises are often the best. From Loren Healy’s Milk Run to RJ Anderson’s XP1K adventures to BJ Baldwin’s Recoil series, cutting to the chase (or rather, the jumps and donuts) is where it’s at.
Such is the case with our latest dose of viral off-roading on YouTube. This time, it’s legendary bad boy racer Brian Deegan. Monster Energy sponsored much of the shoot, and it shows – from Brian’s hat to his fully-stocked fridge, many viewers will be craving a can of the stuff in the near future.
But that’s what we’re here for, the action. And the video gets a lot of it. Shortly after Brian’s daughter Hailie (a racer in her own right) arrives to tell her dad that he needs to do the yard work, he spits up Monster and says in disbelief, “Do the yard work?!”
Would a lawnmower be the way to do it? Brian Deegan ponders for a moment. NAH! Before we know it, he’s got the famous #38 Pro 2 truck out and about on his Southern California property, kicking up dust on his custom-made short-course track.
This is yard work done right!
The truck is getting sideways, vertical; you name it, and there it goes. Brian is obviously having the time of his life doing his chores!
There are some great sequences of the truck getting airborne in the video. Brian Deegan clearly shows how much he has excelled at short-course racing in a truck, and it just gets us all the more excited about the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, which is going on right now.
But that’s enough talk. Go watch the video above, and leave a comment below about which scene was your favorite.
