Driving a turbo powered buggy up a nearly vertical hill is dangerous enough, but us adrenaline junkies can’t do much to resist the urge to defy physics over and over again. The task becomes even more daunting as seen in the video above when you’re half way up the aforementioned hill and your steering wheel, still in hand, is suddenly no longer attached to the steering column.

That’s the exact hand of cards that was dealt to this buggy pilot as he launched up the side of an unnamed Icelandic formation.

When Formula Offroad driver Dori Bjoss starts his ascent, he is completely in control and ready to conquer the hill. Before long, he finds himself in a bit of a pickle. Before he knows it, he’s flying out of control and his only option is to hang tight and let his ride take its course.

Even after the wheel becomes detached, it sounds as if he tries, pedal mashed, to continue to the top of the hill, but gravity says otherwise. What comes next is a bit difficult to watch and puts us on the edge of our seats as the buggy tumbles end over end several times.

At the end of his epic fall, the rig comes to a stunning halt, and it appears as if the driver is free of all major injury. We aren’t sure if the wheel detachment was a result of carelessness or equipment failure, but we’re sure they’ll always double check in the future. Hopefully they’re able to revive what’s left of their rig and attack the hills yet again.
