While the majority of the country is having to deal with cold weather, snow, storms, and the like, we here in Southern California are getting a taste of what this summer will bring with 90-degree weather and clear blue sky. It’s always bittersweet when our “winter” comes to an end as we know darn well we likely won’t get any rain (aka mud) until the fall, however with that said, it’s also a sign of all the off-roading to come during the summer.
If you ever venture down to San Diego, California, the summer is a great time to visit for obvious reasons. What you won’t find in brochures or through travel agents though, is that every year, the start of summer is welcomed with the Del Mar County Fair. Now this is your average fair when it comes to rides, animals, and deep-fried goodness, but what really makes this fair amazing is that for one or two days during the fair, the Del Mar Tuff Truck competition comes to town.
Taking place at the end of June each year, the Del Mar Tuff Truck competition is a true sight to behold. Thanks in large part to the huge desert racing community that calls San Diego County home, a large number of desert racers, short course racers, and average Joes with average trucks make their way out to compete in the Tuff Truck Open Class. What ensues is a tremendous amount of fun, laughs, and (frequent) carnage that really makes this an event the whole family can enjoy.
We here at Off Road Xtreme are considering attending the 2015 Del Mar Tuff Truck competition taking place from June 27-28, 2015, but wanted to know what our readers thought and whether or not it would interest them. So please, watch the wrap-up video of the 2014 Del Mar Tuff Trucks above, and let us know what you think in a comment below!
