French rally driver and professional skier Guerlain Chicherit knows his way around extreme off-road situations. His credentials include the Dakar Rally, where he’s made his name winning stages in his BMW X3, as well as being named a four-time world champion in free-ride skiing.

Last year, Chicherit’s antics caused quite a stir when he started hooning his MINI Cooper–not as a Gymkhana driver, but as a daredevil. The dare was to go for the first-ever full backflip in a car, and Chicherit quickly found himself behind wheel of the specially-outfitted compact in this epic stunt.

The car he drove was a John Cooper Works-prepped vehicle, and the world watched in awe as Chicherit managed to soar his car almost 40 feet in the air before landing safely on a wide, snow-covered quarter pipe. Talk about off-road extreme!

Fast forward to yesterday, and Chicherit was looking to make his mark once again, this time by going for a leap of faith. In an official Guinness World Record attempt, the fearless driver was going to attempt to outdo himself with a new stunt: longest car ramp jump.

Using the same car involved in the car flip, Chicherit intends to knock off the standing world record achieved by famed racer-stunt performer Tanner Foust, who set the record back in 2011 when he went 332 feet in a trophy truck. The Frenchman hoped to outperform the American champion by going 360 feet!

Chicherit’s major sponsor, Toyo Tires, was standing beside its daredevil and eagerly awaiting his performance. “I have been a professional driver for 10 years now and I must say this is the first time I am so confident with my tires. When you drive fast in the Dakar race or when you make your car do incredible performances, you have to trust your tires 100-percent,” said Chicherit.

The stunt took place yesterday but ended in this scary crash. Reports are that he was only slightly injured, responsive immediately after the horrific series of rolls and was taken away for a full medical examination. Do you think Chicherit will try it again?
