When venturing off road, there are many uncertainties. Your rig and judgement have to align perfectly in order to successfully navigate the terrain ahead of you. Various obstacles in your way can create mayhem in the form of broken parts and hearts alike. Without the proper vehicle setup and knowledge, mother nature will make you and your ride her personal property.
Fortunately for us, Poison Spider TV gives us the inside line on how to properly tackle these obstacles so we can keep both our ride and our sanity intact in the video above. The Moab Rim Trail featured is well known for its variety of obstacles that could prove catastrophic if not approached in the appropriate way.
Drop-offs of 300 feet or more await unsuspecting four wheelers who venture away from the proper path. One wrong move and things can go very wrong.
As he ventures up the first wall in “Daddy Long Legs,” Larry McRae from Poison Spyder Customs stays just close enough to the outside to prevent lifting a tire off the ground. He says that this route is closer to peril, but ironically so much the smarter way to go, for if you take the other line, a rollover is much more likely.
You can see the entire “Crawl The Line” series here in which McRae used his years of off-road driving experience to show how to properly drive some of the toughest four-wheeling spots around the country. Even if you never venture to these places, we’re more than willing to bet that you can pick up a thing or two that will apply to your local trails.
