Every year sees more and more off-road racers enter the fray, and one that consistently comes out on top is Bryce Menzies. The 33-year-old Arizona native has won multiple Baja 500s, short course races, and Mint 400 races. He just added another notch in his belt for the recent 2020 Best In The Desert Vegas To Reno (V2R), taking first place overall. It also marked a back-to-back victory, as he won in 2019 as well.
Toyo Tires produced a short video on his experience at V2R. “Vegas To Reno is just tough,” he remarks. “It shows how hard this course is, how demanding it is. It seems easy because it’s fast and with wide-open roads, but that’s where it catches you off.”
Menzies won the 2019 V2R as well, making his 2020 victory all the sweeter.
Menzies is definitely right about that. Stretching over 500 miles and containing some of the harshest terrain this side of the Rockies, the 2020 race was made all the more complicated thanks to COVID-19 preparations and restrictions. Nevertheless, Menzies made a point to give this race his all, and he did.
Clocking in at 7 hours and 48 minutes, Menzies beat out Kevin Thompson and Luke McMillin, who took second and third place, respectively. He credits his tires with helping him maintain a good lead over his opponents. “Toyo’s tires made it possible for me to go 250 miles and pit, where others had to stop off at 150,” he said.
Our hats are off to Menzies for producing another legendary win, not to mention a consecutive win at that. Be sure to follow Menzies on Instagram, and don’t forget to check out Toyo Tires’ website, Instagram, and Facebook page.
