The F-150 and the EcoBoost have been buddies since 2011, when Ford first introduced the optional forced induction mill into its best-selling half-ton. Time and real world trials have attested to the EcoBoost’s viability as a workhorse motor, but AIRAID is here to show us how easy it can be to get some more oomph out of the engine in 2011-14 models.

McGee points out the two provided MAP/MAF sensor locations, which varied between 2011-14 F-150s with the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine.
As explained by AIRAID’s Trent McGee in the video, the company has had a cold air intake kit for this platform for some time; however, a fresh kit with new features has recently arrived. One of the new features is the bifurcated intake tube, forking to both turbochargers while optimizing the airflow as well. The tube can be purchased on its own, with an AIRAID Jr. system, or as part of an entire cold air intake kit.
McGee breezes through the installation in a matter of 15 minutes: disconnecting the battery, unplugging the MAF sensor, loosening the intake tube, removing the upper half of the intake box, and finally the stock intake tube. The MAF sensor plugs into one of the two provided spots (accounting for differences in the 2011-14 setups) on the AIRAID part, and a provided block-off plate will stay on to prevent contamination and leaking in the other spot.
The air dam panels snap into place, hose clamps are tightened, and lastly the air filter is installed. Just like that, a brand new intake kit is providing more oxygen to the engine, while also increasing the sound underhood. Now that truck has some attitude and power to bring to the next off-road gathering it heads to, and so can yours.
