If you look at BJ Baldwin’s transition from off-road hobbyist to professional off-road racer, you will see nothing but commitment and dedication across the board. BJ Baldwin and his team are part of a rare breed of off-road racers that take the sport extremely seriously and view it as the job it is. While most of us would look at everything they do as fun, at the end of the day it is a job and the source of Baldwin’s livelihood so taking it seriously would behoove him.

Baldwin’s unique approach to off-road racing has been very successful for him as he has racked up numerous championships and won some of the most sought-after off-road races – including numerous Baja 1000 solo efforts. The team appears to have found a formula that works and for the better part of the last five years, have been proving their merit time and time again.

With success comes opportunity and in recent past, Baldwin has racked up a who’s who list of dedicated off-road sponsors including Monster Energy, Toyo Tires, Rigid Industries, and Method Race Wheels while at the same time has had the opportunity to work on viral-sensation projects like the Monster Energy Recoil series of videos. In his latest opportunity, Red Kap, manufacturer of all kinds of uniforms for work within the automotive industry, has signed onto Baldwin’s team and has given him yet another great opportunity for a viral video. 

In this latest video titled “Ballistic BJ Baldwin Unleashed” and released on March 10th, 2015, viewers get an inside look into what it takes to maintain Baldwin’s level of focus and dedication to off-road racing to really find out what makes him so successful. The video starts off with Baldwin cruising through the desert in his blue Ford Bronco discussing his past and his level of focus. “I don’t talk on the phone and drive. I don’t text and drive or look at maps or read the newspaper. I am very, very focused whenever I’m driving anything and I’m always trying to get from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Baldwin in regards to his focus.

He then transitioned into discussing what it’s like being a professional racer and what it takes to win by saying, “One of the big things as part of that transformation (from hobbyist to professional racer) is constructing a team of guys that are very knowledgable and very dedicated.” Baldwin continued, “Our team is like a living breathing organism and if all of the intricate parts of that team do not function, then I do not succeed. They want to win as bad as I do.”

This latest release from Red Kap really provides some insight into what goes on in the mind of a successful off-road racer and serves as a nice divergence from the standard viral video that only shows action shots and big stunts. Sure, action is always nice to see, but for diehard fans, there’s nothing better than getting a first hand glimpse into the mind of one of these racers.
