The legend of Bigfoot, AKA Sasquatch, has haunted the Pacific Northwest for centuries, with old Native American tales talking of wild, tall, hairy men stalking the thick forests the area is known for. Today that legend has become something of an obsession for some people, including famed racer BJ Baldwin, who takes to hunting the infamous man-beast in the latest edition of his hooning video series, Recoil 3.

Recoil 3 follows in the same vein as Ken Block’s widely-viewed Gymkhana videos, only the various rally and race cars are replaced by a racing truck. And rather than taking place in a typical, trap-laden urban setting, Recoil 3 sends Baldwin on an off-road hunt through the Pacific Northwest to battle Bruce the Sasquatch. The video takes less than a minute to get to the action, and it isn’t long before Baldwin is plowing through the forest in his 800 horsepower trophy truck in a bid to take down Bigfoot once and for all.

Or at least, that’s how the video begins. Soon after the chase gets going, the actual forest gives way to an empty concrete jungle, where Sasquatch has fled and where there are a multitude of more options for cool camera angles. The sleepy, hilly city is the perfect playground for Baldwin’s trophy truck, allowing him to get maximum air while tearing through the wide, empty interactions.

The director has a particular inclination towards slow-motion cameras as well, and constant use of this effect allows us to really take in just how much air time Baldwin is getting with each successive jump. It all caps off with a tremendous launch inside a sports arena that must be 30 or even 40 feet above the ground.

We’ve waited awhile for Recoil 3 now, and we’re happy to say that it was well worth the wait…though Bruce the Sasquatch walks away, seemingly unimpressed.
