Video: 4×4 AlFresco Conquers The Alpine Loop

Ever have one of those days when nothing goes right? You feel like it doesn’t really matter, so you might as well get out of dodge. Trust us, you are not alone. Many of us just want to drop the tasks of our daily lives and head for the hills. The only difference between you and the crew at 4x4Alfresco is that they went ahead and did it.

4x4Alfresco is a coalition of six vehicles and 11 outdoor enthusiasts. The group sets out to provide relevant information to people that are interested in well-known wheeling locations. They also encourage anyone seeing their content to reach out to them if they want to learn more about outdoor adventure or even recommendations on where to eat and stay when traveling.

4x4Alfresco has a strong social media presence and their blog and webpage are great places to find information about their various trips. One of their trips included an evaluation of the Alpine Loop in Colorado. Since they were out there anyway, they also completed a review of Imogene Pass as well.

4x4alfresco member Ryan Stout explained, “The goal of 4x4Alfresco this trip was to prove to people what is really needed to accomplish the Alpine Loop. Forums say a million different things. Once we started researching, we realized there was a lot of misinformation out there about the loop. We wanted to set the story straight. We did it with vehicles of varying ability.” By completing the trip with the different rigs, the group provided real-world data on how the trail can be conquered. They proved that it was possible, even if you don’t have a highly modified rig.

“We can conclusively say that the 2WD 4Runner on brand new mud terrains only had to turn back on one trail. Engineer Pass proved to be a little too sketchy. We all concluded that it might have done it. However, she was sliding a lot and the risk was high, but every 4×4 vehicle made the trip with no problems. To sum it all up, you must buy good tires! Make sure they are ten-ply! Go have fun,” Ryan shared.

Check out the video to see how the adventure went. The group is set to complete future trips from Moab to Zion this year. In 2020, they will hit the route from Yosemite to Mt. Hood. Check out their website for updates on future trips and giveaways.
