We recently came across the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk’s advertising campaign called “Tales of the Trailhawk” that is designed to highlight some of the various capabilities the all-new mini-Jeep offers. In this installment, Heather Scott from the Jeep Vehicle Integration team runs the 2015 Renegade at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Michigan – an off road destination that has became rather infamous on YouTube for the wild and crazy off road airtime and crashes that happen within the confines of the park. Rather than having the video focus on the Renegade’s ability to drive up the sand dunes, it actually focuses on the Renegade’s water fording abilities.
Being that the Renegade is advertised to be able to ford 19-inches of standing water at 5 mph, Scott and the video team take it upon themselves to showcase these claims. Watching the video, it becomes clear that they are likely going faster than 5 mph as they romp through water that is probably not a full 19-inches deep. While rain, puddles, standing water, and even drinking water for that matter are scarce in Southern California, we can appreciate the Renegade’s water fording ability because on the trail, you never know what you will encounter.
