Earlier this week, Professional Fun-Haver and Formula DRIFT star Vaughn Gittin Jr. announced to help celebrate the Ford Mustang in a special way. He planned to become the first person to ever drift the entire Nürburgring from behind the wheel of his Mustang RTR.

Well, it seems like mother nature had different plans for the Ford Performance driver. On the day he was set to take on this historic feat, The Green Hell was hit with a rain storm that put a damper on his plans.

“I traveled here to Germany to drift the Nürburgring with my Ford Mustang RTR, and it decided to rain today,” Vaughn confessed. “And drifting in the rain is boring.”
While many drivers might consider packing their bags and heading home, he had a pretty unique backup plan. “I am going to get behind the wheel of the brand new Ford F-150 Raptor and go do a hot lap the fun way!”
Vaughn ditched the Mustang and jumped straight into a truck for a quick drift lap that many of us would consider adding to our own bucket list. The video above, shot by the team at Ford Performance, shows the crew cab F-150 Raptor getting sideways on almost every turn. Even Vaughn admitted that the 6,650-pound vehicle was one “Big Mama Jama” to be flicking around the Nürburgring’s unforgiving turns.
The EcoBoost Raptor’s size and aggressive front grille are immediately recognizable running the course. Did we mention this beast weighs in at over 6,600 pounds?
We applaud Vaughn’s dedication to showing fans just how capable this Ford Performance truck can be under a variety of circumstances. Although he did not get the chance to drift the entire track in his Mustang RTR this year, it was still a proper celebration.
