The Holley LS Fest is heading to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in April, and it’s never too soon to prepare for this wild weekend of LS power. Holley, the Kentucky-based performance company, is known for a whole lot more than NASCAR carburetors.

Holley is one of the world’s oldest and most respected performance firms, created in 1896 with a goal to go fast. But who would think that a 1,200 horsepower machine would ever exist?

Well, meet Medusa. It’s Cody Burge’s twin supercharged, Ultra4 car that he took to the 2020 Holley LS Fest East in September. It’s fast, large and powerful, unlike few automobiles you’ll see in your lifetime.

“We’re running 1,200-plus horsepower, with twin torque superchargers,” Burge said of Medusa. “Why we chose to go with the centrifugals is because it’s than instantaneous smacking power and, if you learn how to drive it, it’s user friendly. If you don’t know what you’re doing, it can scare you, it can flip you and it can be a very bad day.”

Burge called this beast “snappy and crisp.” It certainly stood out during the Holley LS Fest, too.

“It’s like an oddity,” Burge said of his Ultra4 racer. “With a nice horsepower car, it doesn’t matter what it looks like.”

The Ultra4 machines are designed to have four-wheel drive with a ton of horsepower. There are eight races per year in America, with a handful of international events.

Now, as drivers and teams prepare for the 2021 Holley LS Fest, the fun is only just starting to get going.
