Back in the day off-road vehicles didn’t have the luxurious features that you’ll find in most vehicles in the class sold today. Of course, this was back when a 4X4 was seen more as a necessity by many and a weekend driver than the daily driver of today.

Taking a Walk Around the Nissan Patrol

Four exterior views.

Taking a walk around this near-perfect example of a 1967 Nissan Patrol shows exactly how utilitarian these vehicles really were. No cover for the spare tire, and no entertainment system in the back of the vehicle. In fact, looking at the picture of the rear area of the interior, you’ll notice that the seating arranged as if for, well, a military patrol, with all seats allowing passengers to easily egress the vehicle if they need to; just like a military patrol that finds contact.

The Interior

Four interior views.

Talking about utilitarian? Take a look inside: Speedo, tach, a couple of idiot and indicator lights. There’s a knob to pull on the headlights, a knob under the dash for the choke, a working dash light, and that’s about it. The steering wheel doesn’t have buttons for the stereo or cruise control, in fact, the Patrol has neither of those as they weren’t needed back then.

About This 1967 Nissan Patrol

There's less rust under the truck than you'd expect for an off-road vehicle from 1967. The engine is the stock 4.0-still running strong.

The major highlight about this baby is that it was for sale. The seller had it for ten years and he was only the second owner. The odometer reads 73,461. Take a look at the body; what rust it does have only adds to the vehicle’s character, as does the slight fading in spots of the baby blue paint. Only the  truck’s top was repainted at some time.

The engine is the original 4.0-liter backed by a three-speed manual and it’s said to be in excellent condition mechanically. The hi-low 4WD is also in excellent working condition. All in all, the buyer got an excellent truck for his money.
