Stellantis parent company to Ram Trucks, Jeep, and Dodge has made commitments to go green and carbon neutral and all that. So the automaker is indeed phasing out the wild powerplants such as the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat. But for now, Ram has confirmed the 2024 TRX supertruck is not only not discontinued, but will still receive its superpowers from its well-endowed Hellcat engine.
Originally developed in 2020 and released as a 2021 model, the Ram TRX was introduced with an impressive 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque with a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 engine. Rated with a top speed of 118 mph and a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, the supertruck goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 4.5 seconds and does the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. And it was made as a purpose-built off-roader with dynamic suspension and Bilstein Blackhawk shock absorbers.
The 2024 Ram TRX Supertruck Stays Super And Not Discontinued
But alas, at some point, the heads at Stellantis want to neuter the world and pull the plug on the fun, or just tie us up with cords. They have announced a “Last Call” for the Ram 1500 TRX with the 6.2L Supercharged V8. The “Final Edition” 2024 TRX brings to an end an unprecedented run as the alpha predator of the world of pickup trucks in North America.
Since the TRX was introduced, they have offered the Launch Edition, Havoc Edition, and Sand Blast Edition.
Production of the current Ram 1500 TRX, powered by a supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V-8 engine, will conclude in late 2023
The Ram 1500 TRX 2024 Final Edition, with HEMI V-8 Supercharged engine, is limited to a maximum of 4,000 units, which will join those of the versions that do not belong to this special Last Edition.
2024 Ram TRX Final Edition
“The introduction of the Ram 1500 TRX ushered in a significant change in the world of high-performance off-road trucks with a halo effect that will endure for years to come,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Ram brand. “The current chapter of Ram’s performance trucks is coming to an end, but not the end of the TRX story. For now, with more to come later, we are proud to be able to offer our loyal performance enthusiasts one very special latest TRX 6.2L V8 Supercharged – Final Edition.”

The Ram TRX pickup cemented Ram as the leading off-road truck brand in North America when it made its debut in 2020 as a 2021 model. While RAM has not provided specific details on the reasons behind discontinuing the TRX supercharged program, it is clear that the changing landscape of the automotive industry played a role. Stringent emissions regulations, government authorities forcing the market, and twisting consumer preferences, have all contributed to this outcome.
What Will The Next TRX Truck’s Powerplant Look Like?
When will the TRX finally lose its engine? As far as we know, 2024 is the last year for the 6.2 supercharged Hemi V8. And when will a battery electric TRX come? We already know a full EV Ram truck is coming down the pipeline. We also just noted the new 2023 Ram Rebel is available with a Cummins Diesel engine, so there is that on the table. What we can expect is that all new Ram Truck models after 2024 will begin receiving the next Hurricane hybrid drivetrain system. Let us just hope and pray that is not the only option.
