The Ford Crown Victoria is a very popular, well known car amongst police forces and elderly people alike, as well as limousine companies in the form of the Lincoln Town Car.
It’s a vehicle we generally love to hate, but we really can’t because it’s freaking bulletproof. However, the only way to make a Crown Victoria more bulletproof than stock is to swap in a 6.0-liter GM LQ9 engine under the hood. Ryan Kibbe of Kibbetech was contacted by the owner of this car, Jon Baker, to build it. After getting the idea of building this dream machine shot down by another shop, it took very little convincing for Kibbe to come on board for the build.
Before starting the initial caging process on the car, Kibbe gave Baker a call to see if he wanted to replace the stock Ford mill. Baker came to the conclusion that the 6.0-liter GM LQ9 was reliable enough for the application and would get the car up to speed pretty nicely in the desert. Everything on this car is money, though. The suspension work is top-notch, with 13 inches of travel in the front, and 12 inches of travel in the rear.
One thing we really like about the car are the custom ceramic-coated headers that exit out of the fender – it gives the engine bay a sinister look and is probably ear-shattering loud. Believe it or not, Baker was offered a bunch of cash for the vehicle by a friend and took it, but soon after his friend took the reigns, it ended up in the impound lot. Three months later, Baker was looking for another car to take on another desert trip when his dad suggested to check the impound lot to see if it was still there. Baker was lucky because it was auctioned that Saturday, and he made the winning bid.
Baker’s Crown Victoria is one of the coolest we’ve seen, and it’s probably a blast to take through the whoops, especially under LS power.
