There’s a new Jeep coming to town, and it’s all thanks to Lego. The building blocks brand just revealed its fresh Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, available January 2021 as part of Lego’s Technic series.
The model Jeep Wrangler Rubicon features a yellow and black scheme. It includes opening doors and a hood that pops open, plus rear seats that fold down and a full-size spare tire, just like the real-life Wrangler.
”The Jeep Wrangler is an icon in the off-road world,” Lars Thygesen, a designer for Lego Technic, said. “The Rubicon has a lot of the iconic details loved by 4×4 fans the world over, so it was important to me to pack as many of the authentic, powerful features of the real vehicle into this replica. I hope Lego fans and vehicle lovers enjoy all aspects, including the suspension, winch and open-air design that we developed alongside the talented Jeep design team.”
The model Wrangler will give young builders a sense of what the real-life Rubicon is like. It boasts front steering with an axle similar to the real Wrangler. With 665 pieces, this will be quite the challenge for Lego builders.
“With an 80-year legacy that reaches around the world, our owners, fans and followers have quite literally grown up with us,” Christian Meunier, global president of the Jeep Brand, said. “Our partnership with the Lego Group gives our enthusiasts another inclusive opportunity to share the passion they have for the Jeep Wrangler, a global automotive icon that represents fun, freedom and unbridled adventure.”
The Lego model’s similarity to the real-life version is one Jeep is quite proud of. “Ask any Jeep Wrangler owner and they’ll tell you that their vehicle is just a bigger version of this new Lego set,” Mark Allen, head of Jeep Design, said.
