We all know a Jeep pickup truck is coming. At this point, almost everything about it has been leaked in some way, but we’ve yet to get a good uncovered look at it. Up until now, it was thought it would be named the “Scrambler,” but some recent evidence has popped up pointing toward it being named the “Gladiator.” In fact, after finding promotional images on FCA’s media website, the folks at “Jeep Scrambler Forum” have changed their name to “Jeep Gladiator Forum.” Supposedly these promotional images were found in plain sight on FCA’s media website, but were removed from publicly accessible parts of the site shortly after.
The images show most of what we already know Jeep’s pickup truck, coming in 2020. If you look closely at the images, you can see a Sahara and a Rubicon trim. Interestingly enough, the Gladiator will be available with an optional soft top, a feature which can be found on the Wrangler, but it’s not a feature found on any pickup trucks. Judging by the images, it also looks like the Gladiator will also have removable doors and a drop-down windshield which is expected. The entire design of the Gladiator is very Jeep like as you would expect, even sticking with the same-shaped rear doors as the JL Wrangler, even though the Gladiator’s rear wheels are significantly further back.
No more additional details were found along with the images, so it’s safe to assume the Gladiator will still be available with either the 3.6L Pentastar V6 or the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. Underneath, it shares most of its DNA with the JL Wrangler, using the same transfer cases, axles, and more. It should carry up to 7,650 pounds and a 1,600-pound payload.
