Although we haven’t quite gotten into 2014 yet, let alone finished up 2013, automotive manufacturers are already promoting their next big releases for upcoming model years. For Ford, the most recent announcement of future models goes nicely with the off-road fever around here, as the American giant is introducing a new breed of F-Series Super Duty trucks come 2015. Check them out in the video above. Can anyone say upgraded tow vehicles?

Debuted on September 26, 2013, at the State Fair of Texas, the Ford F-Series Super Duty lineup will feature second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel engines for the 2015 model year. This new engine is a combination of upgraded technology and custom input since the 6.7-liter Power Stroke was introduced in 2011. Some of the features of the new engine include a new GT37 turbocharger, Ford’s innovative reverse-flow design, which means shorter airflow from the exhaust to the turbocharger, improving turbo response, and better heat isolation for better overall engine efficiency.
In addition to the upgraded second-gen Power Stroke engine, the 2015 F-Series Super Duty lineup is set to feature a revamped F-450 truck, the top-of-the-line Ford truck in towing and hauling capabilities. Improvements to the F-450 include a stronger frame and suspension, new 19.5-inch commercial-grade wheels and tires, and upgraded core work components, which will also be featured in the F-Series Super Duty chassis cab trucks.
Improved towing capabilities are made possible on the 2015 F-450s due to Ford’s upgraded rear driveline U-joints, increased fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer capacity, upgraded suspension components such as new leaf springs, shocks, and front and rear stablizer bars, and stronger steering gears and linkages. The 450’s towing capabilities are also improved thanks to larger wheel and parking brakes, as well as new anti-lock brake calibration, all shared with the Super Duty chassis cab models, and specific Power Stroke diesel engine calibration.
While Ford has made noticeable improvements to the engine and performance of all the F-Series trucks for the future release, they have also revamped the King Ranch Edition, a truck built with the ranching lifestyle in mind, for the 2015 model year.
“King Ranch is an American original with a proud heritage of hard work that defines the American ranching lifestyle,” Doug Scott, Ford Truck group marketing manager said in Ford’s recent press release. “The 2015 Ford Super Duty King Ranch seamlessly combines elements of Texas-inspired luxury and Ford capability.”
To get inspiration for the new King Ranch Edition, the F-Series design team took a special trip out to an 825,000 acre working ranch. From that experience, they brought back the Running W brand, a brand used on the ranch’s cattle, and incorporated it into the interior of the new F-Series offering. This brand can be found on the seat backs in the truck as well as on the center console. Amplifying the ranching theme, the interior is trimmed in Mesa leather.
On the outside of the truck, the new King Ranch Edition sports a darker Caribou paint shade for the wheel lip moldings, bumpers and lower body. To top it off, the truck’s bed rail caps, running boards and bumper caps appear in black. The icing on the cake is the Running W brand prominently displayed in the center of the wheels.
The new 2015 F-Series Super Duty lineup is set to be an amazing hit, from the improved towing capabilities and second-generation 6.7-liter turbo diesel engine to the revamped King Ranch Edition.
Now, with those improved options in mind, isn’t it about time to take a look at your off-road vehicle and see how it too can be improved for the future?
