Yokohama Tire has unveiled its all-new Geolandar A/T4 G018 all-terrain tire. Yokohama says the tire is “truly the perfect balance of on-road comfort and off-road reliability.” How does it accomplish that task? Well, here’s some preliminary info on the tire’s construction and features.

The new A/T4 uses a triple polymer blend compound that’s designed to resist cutting, chipping, and wear, thus extending its mileage.
Geo-Shield Technology, Enduro-Compound, And Advanced Tread Pattern
The A/T4 has Geo-Shield technology, which the company says reinforces strength for both on- and off-road applications. This technology incorporates multiple sidewall plies, a full nylon cap, and a high turn-up carcass. Furthermore, the A/T4 utilizes Yokohama’s proprietary Enduro-Compound. This is a triple polymer blend designed to resist cutting, chipping, and wear, thus extending its mileage. It’s also optimized to stay flexible for grip when the tire is wet. To provide reliable all-weather performance, the A/T4 features an advanced tread pattern with zig-zag grooves and triple 3D sipes. These elements contribute to excellent traction in both dry and wet conditions. For example, the zig-zag grooves efficiently evacuate large volumes of water from beneath the tread to maintain traction. The triple 3D sipes reduce tread squirm to enhance stability.
The Geolandar A/T4 has mud and stone ejectors that are designed to keep the grooves clear of said material. This helps to maintain off-road traction.
Mud And Stone Ejectors, Dual-Sidewall Design, And More
The A/T4 has mud and stone ejectors designed to keep the grooves clear of said material. This helps to maintain off-road traction. Edgetec grooves combine with shoulder blocks at the edges of the tire create more biting edges for additional traction. Dual sidewall protectors help provide side impact protection from sharp rocks. And the tire has earned the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, indicating exceptional winter traction capability. Additionally, the A/T4 features a dual-sidewall design. This feature allows owners to choose the design they like best.
Single-Pitch Shoulder Blocks And Aggressive Center Blocks
Yokohama designed the A/T4 with single-pitch shoulder blocks. They reduce noise on-road, but also enhance traction off-road. Furthermore, there are aggressive center blocks that deliver exceptional off-road traction across various surfaces. Additionally, the enhanced profile ensures firm grounding of the tread blocks. This helps to generate confident on-road handling and improved off-road traction.

Single-pitch shoulder blocks, aggressive center blocks, and dual sidewall protectors are part of the A/T4’s features.
Extensive Size Range For The Yokohama Geolandar A/T4
Drew Dayton, Yokohama Tire’s Senior Product Planning Manager, Consumer Tires, says, “The A/T4 is a go anywhere tire. It’s been designed and developed by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, which makes it capable enough for off-road adventurers and everyday drivers alike. The A/T4 will have an extensive size range in both Euro-metric and LT-metric sizes and is ready to roll on any surface, in any weather condition, thanks to its outstanding off-road resilience and dependable all-weather traction. The A/T4 is truly the perfect balance of on-road comfort and off-road reliability.”
On the topic of sizing, Yokohama says the A/T4 will eventually have over 100 sizes ranging from 15- to 22-inch wheel diameters.
