Short course off-road racing is back with the announcement of the new Great American Short Course series.

Short course off-road racing is back and better than ever! The Great American Short Course (GAS) off-road racing series will debut with four events on well-known short course tracks near major metropolitan centers. Now you won’t have to miss any of the big-air jumps, drag races down the front straightaway, or fender-banging corner action of exciting short course off-road racing you have enjoyed for many years.

Veteran short course off-road race series director Lee Perfect and Ultra4/King of the Hammers (KOH) race promoter Dave Cole of Hammerking Productions recently announced the formation of the new Great American Short Course powered by OPTIMA Batteries off-road racing series. “We plan to take a fresh look at short course racing in the West and learn from each other to build something sustainable, safe, and fun for everyone from the grassroots racers to the pros,” commented Perfect.

The idea is to create a new short course off-road racing series that will attract many of the sport’s biggest pro drivers like Kyle LeDuc, Rob MacCachren, and Bryce Menzies. It will also develop a multi-layered vehicle class structure that will include regional and grassroots racers. The promotors are even working on a few surprises (we’re hoping for a Class 11 stock VW Bug race) for short course off-road racing fans.

The partnership of veteran short-course off-road race series director Lee Perfect and Ultra4/King of the Hammers (KOH) producer Dave Cole will use engaging video and live streaming to put race fans in the virtual driver’s seats and on the race track.

Working with the engaging video and live streaming capabilities Kammerking Productions is known for, short course off-road racing fans will be fully immersed in the racing action, whether they are able to attend open spectator events or not. “We learned from King of the Hammers that it’s better to have your fans actively participate at the events than just sit there watching, and we aim to provide that opportunity here,” explained Dave Cole.

The full race schedule for the Great American Short Course off-road racing series is still to be released. What we do know is that two events are tentatively planned for April and May, and two events are slated for October and November.
