As we head into winter, “Mother Nature” will play a bigger role in our activities. Whether that is good, like snow for snowboarding, or bad, like hail or sleet, “Mother Nature” is something we have to contend with. A great thing about a truck is the diversity of tasks and environments it can handle. Whether it is hauling a 4-wheeler in the back, towing a 20,000lb load, or just commuting to work; a truck is at home almost anywhere.
Being that we are “die hard” truck people, a stock vehicle just isn’t good enough for most of us. So, we like to see what’s available in the aftermarket to improve the already great capabilities of our truck. If you check out the trucks in our parking lot, you will find that most of us like either camper shells or tonneau covers. Those that use our trucks for a wide range of tasks, generally opt for things that can be collapsed or removed very easily.
Recently, Bestop introduced a new line of soft top camper shells called Supertop. These are made very similarily to their proven Jeep soft tops and are just as flexible. They can be put up or taken down within minutes. When they are down, they can be fully removed or you can use the straps to tie everything up and out of the way.
If you are just looking for a cool place to hand out during your kids football game or at the track, the side and rear windows are removable. This keeps the sun off of you, but you have all of the same sensations as being right there.
For those that prefer to leave your truck bed open most of the time, it is easy to do with the top removed, then when you need the top, just unwrap it and put it up. With a few minutes you have weather resistant storage.
