The Can-Am 2022 lineup of side-by-side vehicles is pure off-road awesomeness. One of the major highlights on these new machines includes an industry first 200hp engine which will power the new 2022 Can-Am Maverick X3. Additionally the new Mavericks will also offer an all new pDrive roller clutch system and have the option for Smart-Shox adaptive suspension.
Can-AM Off-Road holds an impeccable race record which translates to top notch machines available to the enthusiast market. Just recently Can-Am backed off-road racers scored five wins at the 2021 Best In The Desert Vegas To Reno desert race. This regular domination of the major UTV pro divisions trickles down to improved technology and rugged performance. We can hope the Can-Am 2022 lineup will hold much of this desert racing flavor on the new machines.
Off Road Xtreme has had the opportunity to get hands on with a Can-Am Commander. It was a real kick in the pants and a lot of fun, but one thing we felt it lacked was top end power. With the news from Can-Am dropping some big numbers from their Rotax engines, we are feeling way more excited.
The 2022 Can-Am Maverick X3 Is Powered Up!
With BRP upping the ante for Can-Am to offer the first 200 horsepower engine available from a side-by-side manufacturer, this could be a game changer. For these small yet capable machines, that is a lot of power. Mate that up with an all-new pDrive roller clutch system, means quicker acceleration and instant-on power at all times.
The 2022 Can-Am Maverick X3 is said to present the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, but what about handling and off-road performance. BRP engineers have configured an all new Smart-Shox adaptive suspension system paired up to new thirty or thirty two inch Maxxis Carnivore tires. To tie it all together, they have crafted a stronger frame, and higher ground clearance for improved stance.
Hailie Deegan, professional racer and Can-Am brand ambassador shared this in the official 2022 lineup press release. “The 2022 Can-Am Maverick X3 is the pinnacle of performance side-by-side vehicles. And the best part of working with Can-Am is that they keep making it better and better. There’s no other choice if you’re in the market for the best, and if you enjoy watching others try to keep up in the rearview.”
Can-Am 2022 Lineup Engine Options
The Can-Am 2022 lineup offers two new Rotax engines – the HD7/700 ACE and the HD9, which are set to replace the HD5, HD8, and 800.
“With the addition of the HD7 and HD9 engine options to the already existing HD10, Can-Am is class leading in power and the best option to accomplish the task at hand, whether that’s work or play,” said Christian St-Onge Director Global Product Strategy Can-Am Off-Road Vehicles. “Regardless of your vehicle choice, this lineup is built to perform.”
The Rotax HD7 will set a new benchmark of the lower-HP class. Internal testing reports up to 37% more power. The HD7 will be available in the Can-Am Defender, and also the new Commander 700, and the Maverick Trail 700 with a sportier calibration. The new engine is optimized for off-road usage, delivering an improved experience with less noise, less vibration, and a cooler environment for passengers resulting in a more comfortable ride.
The Rotax HD9 option will replace the HD8 in the Can-Am Defender lineup. This is a larger displacement engine that offers increased power delivering 30% more horsepower than its predecessor. It promises the same dependability, with even more workability by way of class-leading power and low-end torque.
With this news of the 2022 Can-Am Lineup and more specifically the 2022 Can-Am Maverick X3, Off Road Xtreme is feeling the “Off-Road Livin” vibes and cannot wait to get back out on the trail.
