Voss Motorsports recently took home the glory by winning first overall at the 2014 Silver State 300 as part of the Best in the Desert Series. Their blue and white Ford F-150 Trophy Truck driven by Jason Voss (27) with his father Rich Voss (56) in the copilot seat, battled through 300 miles of scorching hot Nevada desert, so dry that you couldn’t spit.
The race began with a field of 221 drivers, 163 of them managed to make it to the finish. To earn their triumph, the Voss duo not only had to battle 200 other skilled drivers but a rough desert of obstacles ranging from jumps, gravel roads and a narrow bridge barely the width of the F-150.
The Silver State 300 began with a time trail during which the truck suffered minor damage taking a jump too fast (resulting in the loss of the hood). The video above captures spectacular highlights of the jump, time trial, as well as the race. Despite this mishap, they still managed to finish second with a time of 00:03:24.829. During the main event, Voss quickly took first on the road and left the entire pack coughing in the dust. Father and son then spent the next few hours roaring across the desert in their 1,000 horsepower Trophy Truck.
Throughout the entire event, Voss captured plenty of racing action using an in-cockpit GoPro, and Tuba Art Films also had strategically placed cameramen along the course. Their high octane, high flying, off-road footage will have you on the edge of your seat. Full results of the Best in the Desert 2014 Silver State 300 can be found here.
