Who does not love high-performance super trucks? In the past, we have discussed several offerings from Specialty Vehicle Engineering. The New Jersey-based outfit recently added a new product to its lineup. SVE debuted the Xtreme Off Road V8 Colorado based on a 2022 Chevrolet midsize crew-cab ZR2 earlier last month. Here’s what the tuned-up truck has to offer.
What Makes The SVE Xtreme Off Road V8 Colorado Cook?
Under the hood of SVE is Chevy Colorado Xtreme Off-Road, we find a 5.3-liter V8 motor. The powertrain uses an aluminum L 83 block and a slew of high-performance upgrades, including forged H-beam rods, CNC ported L83 high flow cylinder heads and 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft.
In addition to the ARP high-strength head and main studs, forged aluminum Pistons complete this high-performance ensemble. The boost comes from Specialty Vehicle Engineering’s centrifugal supercharger system, which the tuner developed in-house. A more capable fuel system funnels the juice into the new supercharger, and an air to water intercooler system is used for thermal management.
The powerplant is hooked up to a custom-built stainless steel exhaust system and produces 750 HP of maximum power and 600 lb-ft of peak torque. The truck now rides on a four-inch lift that uses ZR2 Multimatic DSSV dampers. Heavy-duty traction bars are responsible for the grip, and the stopping power comes from six-piston front brake calipers, which use 13.6-inch vented rotors.
Special Vehicle Engineering will only produce 50 examples of the new 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Xtreme Off-Road. Prices for the package start at $80,000, which does not include the cost of a brand new Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 pickup truck.
