One thing we like to do while scouring the halls of the SEMA Show, is to talk shop and find out what is new with the shock manufacturers. We know that Fox Factory is constantly innovating, so we got their Marketing Manager, Dane Garvin, to share a little bit about what he is excited about and that is the FOX Performance Series Shocks and Factory Race Series line. The shock talk got us amped up and ready to rock and even more so when we spotted the KOH Edition Ford Bronco starring as the prime vehicle booth display.
Like many companies in the performance space, they produce products with a good, better, and best-tier system. The FOX Performance Elite Series Shocks (better) are 2.5-inch diameter cans while the Factory Race Series shocks (best) are packing 3-inch girth. Their smaller 2.0 Performance Series brethren complete the trifecta for a very affordable “good” option. Each of the series of shocks is designed as bolt-in applications with vehicle-specific tuned setups.
Starting with the Performance Series Shocks, they feature high-quality construction, fade-resistant performance, aluminum bodies, race-developed main piston, and a true internal floating piston (IFP) to separate gas and oil.
Taking it up a notch, the FOX Performance Elite Series Shocks allow for more control and extended wheel travel specifically engineered for your vehicle. The larger aluminum body dissipates heat more efficiently and the increased internal oil volume allows for more control through FOX’s race-developed high-flow pistons. A 7/8-inch hard chromed shock shaft provides extra durability.
The next level is the Factory Race Series Shocks, which utilizes FOX’s patented internal bypass technology. This system allows for oil to flow around the piston at some points of the stroke while creating humongous pressure at other points – supporting the vehicle incredibly well.
The race-developed shock piston, internal bypass, and dual-speed compression adjustment all work harmoniously together and allow fine-tuning for weight, terrain, and speed in the harshest of environments under the toughest of conditions. Each shock product is available for popular late-model vehicle applications with more in the pipeline coming soon.
