SEMA 2019: JKS Manufacturing Talks J-Rated Suspension Systems

The 2019 SEMA Show gave us a glimpse at what’s new in the off-road market. Today, we’re looking at JKS Manufacturing and the J-Rated product line. The idea behind the J-Rated kits is to give off-roaders what they’re looking for in a kit, without going overboard and charging for unnecessary or unwanted components. To that end, the kits are broken down into four setups:  J-Venture, J-Konnect, J-Krawl, and J-Lander.

JKS’s Justin McLean walked us through the vision behind the J-Rated products and what they’re all about. “The J-Rated line is the culmination of three years of research and feedback from customers,” he said. “The product line allows the customer to choose the kit they need based on how they use their Jeep, be it a JK, JL, or the new JT Gladiator. That way, the customer gets what they do need, and not what they don’t need.”

The J-Venture and J-Konnect systems are intended for weekend warrior Jeeps that balance off-road and on-road driving.

The base kit is the J-Venture. “This kit comes with dual-rate coil springs front and rear,” said McLean. “We also include an adjustable track bar and adjustable sway bar with quicker disconnects, as well as bumpstop extensions. This kit gives you everything to do the lift kit properly. It will also come with a number of shock absorber options, including Fox shocks and our own proprietary J-Spec shocks.”

Building from the J-Venture is the J-Konnect system. “With this kit, the customer is going the next step,” said McLean. “This one supplies a lower control arm set, correcting front caster and centering the rear axle. It uses fixed-length arms with OE rubber bushings. It builds off of the J-Venture kit.”

The J-Krawl and J-Lander systems are for purpose-built off-road Jeeps. They allow for coilover shock absorbers and are best suited to hardcore rock-crawling and overlanding.

For the most dedicated of Jeep rigs, there’s the J-Krawl system. “This will include everything in the J-Venture kit, but it offers customers eight adjustable control arms,” explained McLean. “It also packs in custom Fox shocks for the front and rear to take advantage of the coil springs and massive droop available. Now, this kit will require an aftermarket front driveshaft, but it will give customers the most movement possible in a bolt-on kit.”

Finally, the J-Lander system takes care of the overlanding crowd. “A lot of these guys are going to add weight to the back of their vehicle, so we had to take that into account,” said McLean. “We had to figure out how to keep the Jeep level. So we have our ACOS system, which is an adjustable coilover system. This adds a half-inch of lift to compliment the springs that raise the vehicle 2.5 inches in the rear, as well as the front three-inch springs. So, overall, three inches of lift, and the rear can now take on another 1,000 pounds of additional weight and still be level.”

With the J-Rated product line, JKS Manufacturing is looking to cover all the needs of Jeep customers. To find out more, be sure to check out JKS’s website and Facebook page.
