Last year, Bestop introduced its new soft top for the Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU, and it was a swinging success. Not resting on its laurels, Bestop has introduced its newest soft top, the Trektop Pro, for the extremely popular SUV. However, there are some very big differences between the old and new. We spent some time with Steve Brown of Bestop to get all the details.
“The most significant aspect of the all-new Trektop Pro is obviously its hard glass rear hatch that offers very easy access to the rear cargo area. Next in line of big changes to the existing product is the sliding glass side windows with removable screens. The rear glass can be hooked up to the vehicle’s existing defrost wiring system, and there is the option to add an electric wiper.”
“It still offers our premium 30-ounce, triple-layer black twill fabric construction which makes it very sturdy, but one of the best features adding to the new soft top’s greater utility is the fact that there are no zippers to hassle with when opening up the back of the top. You can simply flip open the rear glass window with one hand because it has gas-assist struts.”
“What we realized is that much of the Jeep Wrangler’s buying demographic has changed and those people are looking for much easier access to the rear cargo area. Not having to hassle with zippers when your hands are full or the weather is bad, is a real bonus for the off-road enthusiast as well as the casual user.”

Only a prototype at the time of the 2014 SEMA Show, this Bestop pop-open mesh cargo basket incorporated into a special closable plastic case mounts directly to the inside of the Jeep Wrangler’s rear cargo door. Not a bad idea, huh?
