Dynatrac introduces the next step in its revolutionary, patented ProRock series of off-road axles with the all-new ProRock XD60. The new axle, which was designed for greater strength and durability than its cousin the ProRock 60, will be available in both front and rear axle applications.
We talked to Cole Quinell, who does media relations and marketing for Dynatrac. “Not only is the new ProRock XD60 stronger and lighter than our ProRock 60, but front axle applications can be ordered with either Dynatrac 1550 HD or 1550 LT wheel ends, and can take massive 1550 steering joints or 30-series CV joints without any modifications. It comes standard with 35-spline axles, but 40-spline axles are optional.”
“The wheel ends have also been designed to allow removal of the axle shafts without removing the knuckle, making service quicker and easier. The 1550 HD wheel end is made from nodular iron and has an axle rating of 6,000 pounds.”
“The 1550 LT is made from military-grade aluminum, cutting the weight in half compared to a current ProRock 60 knuckle, and has an axle rating of 4,500 pounds. The overall weight of the ProRock XD60 with the 1550 LT wheel ends is up to 68 pounds less than today’s ProRock 60.”
We also learned that the Dynatrac ProRock XD60 is designed for 3-3/4-inch outside-diameter axle tubes with either 1/4-inch or 5/16-inch wall thickness; and it can accept a full range of differentials, including air lockers, electric lockers and limited slips. Gear ratios from 3.54:1 to 5.38:1 are available.
