Utah can be an off-roading paradise as the state is home to Moab, which attracts off-roading enthusiasts from all over the world who flock to this challenging stage to test out their all-terrain contraptions. On occasion, the state’s challenging terrains can also become an absolute nightmare, which is why Utah is also home to the Hurricane-based outfit- Matt’s Off Road Recovery (MORR) service.

Over the years, MORR has come to the aid of many distressed off-roaders and achieved great notoriety with its YouTube channel. Recently the team at MORR unveiled an exciting off-road capable reinterpretation of a Chevrolet Corvair Station Wagon. The team unveiled the high-riding model with plenty of theatrics and drove the “Morrvair” down to the desert to have some fun in the sand.

After some cinematic shots that look like scenes out of a Mad Max movie, the team offered a detailed breakdown of their off-road build. The car started its life as a 1961 Chevrolet Corvair Lakewood Wagon 700 Series. The vehicle was left in a state of despair for several years, and so the team had to start by making significant repairs & restoration which included addressing serious rust issues on the car.

The team then decided to install a 5.3-liter LS motor which was sourced from a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The powertrain has been mated to a Turbo 400 transmission, and the wagon now rides on an ORI Suspension setup that offers 12 inches of travel at the front and 13 inches at the rear.

The powertrain was mated to a Flowmaster Exhaust, and Matt opted for Dana 60 front axles and Dana 70 rear axles. Safe to say, the Morrvair is an extreme off-roader, and we suggest you follow MORR’s official YouTube channel for more exciting off-road adventures.
