The 702 horsepower Ram 1500 TRX is a “Super Car” for the desert according to world-renowned stunt driver and championship-winning rally racer Ken Block. Ram Truck tossed over the keys to a brand new 2022 Ram TRX Sand Blast Edition to let Ken do his thing. Beyond rally racing, Block is an accomplished and versatile driver of many disciplines including racing Trophy Trucks at the Baja 1000, smashing snow in a Raptor, off-roading Porches in an African Rally, and zipping up Pikes Peak later this year.

“Ram Trucks gave me a new and unreleased version of their 2022 TRX Sand Blast Edition!” Ken Block stated. “It is like a super car built for dirt, so let’s just call it a super truck. Ridiculously comfortable luxury interior, stacked with a 702 horsepower 6.2 liter supercharged Hemi engine, what more could you ask for? Maybe some suspension travel and frosty air conditioning? It has both of those things and plenty more. Naturally, I wanted to test the limits of this new unreleased TRX so I decided to take it to Johnson Valley where they hold the annual King of the Hammers race to put it through the paces. And by paces I mean whoops, donuts, jumps, dune slides, and a little Gymkhana too.”

What is New About The Ram TRX Sand Blast Edition?

The new Sand Blast Edition will offer customers the ability to customize from a unique combination of technology, graphics, performance, and exterior appearance straight from the factory.

Unmistakably, the vehicle’s most stand-out and apparent feature is the unique Mojave Sand exterior color. Building off of that, the Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition starts out with a well-appointed TRX Level 2 Equipment Group package. The truck is further enhanced by unique 18-inch all-black beadlock capable wheels, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs, bed step, and an LED cab-mounted brake light. Inside, the TRX Sandblast Edition includes Light Frost accent stitching, an embroidered “TRX” seat back logo, unique carbon fiber accents, leather and carbon-fiber flat-bottom steering wheel, unique center console badge, Head-up Display, and a driver’s screen that features TRX in Mojave Sand.

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition will be available this coming summer. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) starts at $98,285, plus $1,795 destination.

What Makes A Ram TRX An Off-Road Super Truck?

Most certainly the Ram TRX is one of the coolest trucks produced by a major OEM in a long time. Off Road Xtreme gives mad props to Ram for making a well-founded purpose-built off-road truck. The Ram TRX is touted as the quickest, fastest, and most powerful mass-produced truck in the world. Packing a high-performance 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI® V-8 engine that produces 702 horsepower and 650 foot-pounds of torque, it is not a stretch. The TRX screams to 60-miles per hour in 4.5-seconds.
Giving credit where credit is due, Ram gave the TRX an off-road worthy and extra-wide track width. Recognizing a truck of this caliber deserved nothing less than 35-inch factory-equipped Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. To cover the rubber, they designed trick-looking aggressive 8-inch flared fenders exclusive to the TRX.

Ram collaborated with Bilstein to design these super impressive Blackhawk E2 Shocks that provide almost 12-inches of ground clearance. These high-performance shocks are perfectly suited to handle the massive 13-inches of front and 14-inches of rear suspension travel. The TRX gets impressive off-road handling from a robust 5-link rear coil system that allows for full-send off-road and retains comfortable handling characteristics on-road.
