James Bond Behind The Scenes: Range Rover Sport SVR Takes Flight

Sleek sports coupe and sedans have always been the stars of popular spy movies. In the latest installment of the James Bond franchise No Time To Die, we will see Daniel Craig Behind the wheel of many gorgeous Aston Martins. However, this time, “the spy with the license to kill” will face off against a new and formidable villain- the all-new Range Rover Sport SVR.

The cars seen in the video have been specially modified for stunt purposes, but the British automaker has confirmed that customers can spec their Sport SVRs to match No Time To Die specification with help of the Land Rover configurator. Land Rover recently also released the 2022 Defender V8 Bond Edition.

Unfortunately, Land Rover will only produce Bond edition Defenders in limited numbers. Just like the Bond edition Sport SVR, the specification of Defender V8 Bond Edition is almost identical to the stunt vehicles that were used to film the exciting chase sequences in the upcoming movie.

As these film sequences refrain from using a lot of CGI, it is impressive to see how much abuse these off-roaders can withstand and still keep going. Surprisingly enough, in the new sequence, we see Bond piloting a Toyota Land Cruiser while being chased by a fleet of Range Rover Sport SVR. With the bad guys hot on his trail, it’s safe to say that Mr. Bond’s choice of the getaway vehicle, in this case, was influenced by necessity and not his sophisticated taste.

The Sport SVRs ride on a set of Narvik Black rims, which are wrapped in all-terrain tires. The car’s powered by a supercharged V8 motor which produces 557 PS of maximum power. In addition to a top speed of 176 MPH, the Range Rover Sport SVR can hit the 60 MPH mark from a complete standstill in 4.5 seconds.

The cars also come equipped with the optional carbon-fiber package which includes add-ons for the front fenders, ORVMs, grille, and air intakes. The Sport SVR gets an especially tuned suspension that is configured to tackle challenging terrains and reduce body roll. The video clip also offers a glimpse of the two special camera cars, which are the unsung heroes that were crucial to the filming process.

The first camera rig seen in the video is based on a second-gen Ford Raptor, whereas the second one employs a custom-equipped Can-am Maverick X3. The fact that the film crew had to use these specially designed off-road camera cars to keep up with the Bond edition SVRs is a testament to SUV’s off-road prowess.

Land Rover is making a real go of their vehicles involvement n the new Bond film presenting awesome and exciting Bond inspired commercial advertisements like this one.
