Urban Assault 3 is Blake Wilkey’s latest video project of off-road vehicle recreation through the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. This time around, Wilkey is shredding the rubber out of his impressive garage-built 3XXL-sized Baja Bug trophy truck. Also different from the first version of Urban Assault is that this latest production is fully sanctioned and produced in cooperation with the city of Tijuana and local Mexican authorities.
That civil nod of approval and blessing definitely does not make this video feature any less exciting or action-packed. In fact, quite the opposite occurs with Urban Assault 3. Blake goes bigger and sends it to the sky on more than one occasion. His “Jaws” mega shark trophy truck was more than capable to handle the jarring stunts of flying over police cars, jumping into a bull ring, and hucking it off of launch ramps.
Essentially, Wilkey speeds around, through, and over various Tijuana landmarks and features for a high-speed thrilling tour of the famous bordertown suburban sprawl. The action-packed video is well-produced and runs 14 minutes and 38 seconds long. Hosted on the Shreddy Lyfe Youtube channel, Urban Assault 3 debuted Sunday, August 13 at 5:00 PM. Since then, the video has garnered over 40,000 views in just 20 hours.
The Launch Tour
To celebrate the launch of Urban Assault 3, Blake Wilkey and his team organized three different premieres in three days. It all started in Tempe, Arizona with a Dixxon Flannel Co warehouse party on Friday, August,11. The next day Wilkey hauled back home to SD for premiere #2. Despite Blake’s personal “Big Booty Judy” Chevrolet dually tow truck failing him on the way up Interstate 8 out of the desert, Wilkey made it to the venue with time to spare. It all went down in San Diego with great success.
The biggest event on the mini-premiere tour was the official launch of Urban Assault 3 with a block party in Tijuana, Mexico at the Restaurante El Museo. To top off the epic vibes of Baja, California, the Urban Assault 3 video was played on the mega big screen hanging from the famed arches that stretch over Revolution Avenue.
Urban Assault 2 featured Blake Wilkey and his Megalodon Buggy shredding stunts through downtown Las Vegas. That was launched over 5 years ago and has since enjoyed over 1 million views. Wilkey’s latest project before Urban Assault 3 was SOCAL SHRED which came out in 2021.
A Worthy Production
Urban Assault 3 was a sizeable larger project compared to his other videos. Not including the 5 years of vehicle design and construction for the Jaws TT Bug, Wilkey was highly invested into this latest project. The Urban Assualt 3 production team worked for conception, sit-downs, telephone calls, exploratory site operations, stunt planning, city leadership meetings, and much more consumed 18 months of effort. When it came down to it for go time, dozens of motivated individuals were able to produce and pull off some very memorable high-flying action-packed stunts throughout the city of Tijuana. And it looks like they had a blast doing it.
Wilkey gives credit to the film’s Director Michael David Squier, a long list of other talented individuals, and supporting partners listed in the Urban Assault 3 credits. Squier and Wilkey had just recently raced the Baja Peninsula during the NORRA Mexican 1000 in a stock Meyers Manx. Blake and Michael also worked together on the Baja Bug Movie prior to that.
