Alpha’s Nightwolf EV: A More Aggressive Wolf

The Alpha Motor Corporation Nightwolf EV is a modified version of the company’s upcoming mass-produced Wolf pickup truck. Modified how, exactly? Well, the Nightwolf sports several off-road-friendly mods including a bed cap with solar panels, roof-mounted storage, aftermarket wheels, additional lighting, and more. Here’s a look at Alpha’s Nightwolf EV pickup truck.

About Alpha’s Wolf EV Pickup Truck

Before we dive into the Nightwolf’s features, we need to set the stage by looking at Alpha’s Wolf EV pickup truck that it’s based on. The two-door Wolf is available in single motor rear-wheel-drive or dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. Range is 250 to 275-plus miles. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is 6.2 seconds and the truck has a 3,000-pound towing capacity. The Wolf is a body-on-frame truck that is 190 inches in length, 75 inches wide, and 69 inches tall. The truck’s bed is 72 inches long, 62 inches wide, and 17 inches deep. Compared to a 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab S 4×4, the Wolf’s exterior length is a tad over 20 inches shorter, its 2 inches wider, and it has 2.5 inches less height.

Nightwolf Has Off-Road Travel in Mind

Nightwolf is “purpose-built to conquer rugged terrains and tackle challenging off-road conditions,” the company says. Alpha says that it designed the Wolf with a low center of gravity. The battery is central to the vehicle chassis and the company says the result is superior handling and responsiveness that enhances off-road travel. The company realizes that owners’ tastes and needs vary so it designed Nightwolf to accommodate aftermarket components. This includes items such as tents, camping gear, and grilles. Alpha says the Nightwolf will have a base price of $36,000-$46,000. Here’s a look at some of Alpha’s Nightwolf EV pickup truck features.

Bed Cap with Solar Panels

Nightwolf’s cargo bed cap offers protection from the elements for the truck’s bed and its contents. The bed cap also serves as a mounting point for an array of solar panels. To maximize sunlight absorption the panels are adjustable and the power they generate can be stored in the truck’s battery. Alpha says these panels can potentially extend the truck’s daily range by about 15-20 miles. And of course, the panels can also provide power for electrical accessories, which is ideal for camping or overlanding.

Roof-Mounted Storage Cases

Off-grid forays require hauling gear and supplies and Nightwolf has two roof-mounted, low-profile Roam Adventure Co. 83L cases to help accomplish that task. An 83L Rugged Mount affixes each 83L Rugged Case. The 83L Rugged Mount is a quick-release mounting system. With this mounting system a case can be mounted to a roof rack in under five seconds. As a bonus, each Rugged Case can be locked down to prevent theft. Patrick Frits, Marketing Manager at Roam Adventure Co. says, “You shouldn’t have to worry about getting your gear from point A to point B. The rooftop-mounted Rugged Cases make it easy to store all your essential gear safely on top of your vehicle and maximize the space you have to enjoy down below.”

Off-Road-Ready Wheels

Strong wheels are important when traveling off-road. Nightwolf is fitted with Black Rhino’s Atlas wheels. The Atlas wheel is designed from the ground up to excel in off-road situations. As a matter of fact, Black Rhino says that the Atlas wheel is specifically engineered for “endless adventure and it is fatigue tested as one of the company’s most durable wheels ever. The wheels are mounted to LT285/75R17 (almost 33-inch diameter) BFGoodrich HD-Terrain T/A KT tires.

Additional Forward-Facing Lighting

Upgraded lighting makes backcountry travel at night, far from city lights, easier and safer. For this reason, the Alpha Nightwolf EV pickup truck is fit with a collection of KC Lights to punch through the darkness. The tally includes 7-inch Gravity LED headlamps and Gravity LED Pro6 auxiliary lights. On the front bumper beam are a pair of Gravity LED Pro6 lights. The roof rack holds a quartet of Gravity LED Pro6 lights.

Handy Shovel

Last, but certainly not least, Alpha’s Nightwolf is fitted with a Delta Pro Shovel by DMOS Collective. A shovel is one of those must-haves when traveling off the paved road and it’s uses are almost endless. The Delta Pro Shovel is up to almost any task thanks in part to its impressive 1,000-pound payload capability. The shovel collapses down to only 24 inches in length, which is how it’s conveniently mounted to the passenger-side of the Nightwolf’s truck cap. This mounting location ensures that the shovel is easily accessible and safely contained.

There’s Also a Nightwolf Plus

If you need more interior space and more capability, Alpha Motor Corporation also offers the Nightwolf Plus. The “Overland Edition” extended cab truck has the same driving range as the Nightwolf. However, towing capacity is 6,724 pounds and the 0-60 mph acceleration time is 5.9 seconds. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive Nightwolf Plus is 18 inches longer than the Nightwolf, but the bed length is decreased by 7 inches. The Nightwolf Plus has Black Rhino wheels, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires, KC Lights lighting, Roam Adventure Co. storage, and DMOS Collective tools. MSRP for the Nightwolf Plus is $46,000 to $56,000.

Alpha Nightwolf EV Reservations are Open Now

If you’d like to reserve a Nightwolf or Nightwolf Plus simply go to the company’s website and click on the “Reserve” button. In July 2023 Alpha presented the world premiere of its Wolf prototype in action, so the truck appears to be moving toward mass production. We like the Wolf’s compact size, and we think the truck shows potential to be a nimble machine for everything from off-road travel to city driving. Furthermore, we’re liking the Nightwolf’s collection of functional equipment, and we think it complements the Wolf nicely. In the future we’re looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Wolf and Nightwolf and we’ll have a full report on the experience at Electrified.
