The first OEM monster truck in longer than a decade is about to be introduced to the circuit. Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand, will campaign its new “Mopar Muscle” Ram monster truck beginning with the Monster Jam event in Detroit on January 11, 2014.
The Mopar-sponsored brute will be part of the Hall Brothers Racing’s championship winning team that includes the trucks “Raminator” and “Rammunition” for six of the Monster Jam events in 2014. The team has been sponsored by the Ram Truck brand has since 2002.
The Monster Jam Racing Series is the premier monster truck racing event series, with a 14-race schedule that features traditional bracket racing and a freestyle competition. Standing 10 feet high and weighing 10,300 pounds, Mopar’s 2,000-horsepower monster truck is based on the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty truck.
Power comes from a 565 cubic-inch supercharged version of the iconic Gen II 426 HEMI engine, the powerplant celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2014. To commemorate this event, a special orange 50th anniversary HEMI logo will be worn by Mopar Muscle to help launch a year-long tribute to the engine that has so impacted the motorsport and automotive industries.
Mopar Muscle will compete at the following events during the 2014 season: January 11 – Monster Jam in Detroit, Michigan; February 22 – Monster Jam in Arlington, Texas; May 16-18 – 4 Wheel Jamboree in Lima, Ohio; June 21-22 – 4 Wheel Jamboree in Springfield, Missouri; July 11-13 – 4 Wheel Jamboree in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; and September 19-21 – 4 Wheel Jamboree in Indianapolis, Indiana.
