If you’re looking for an easy way to get a big power boost from your Jeep Wrangler’s engine, then the Banks Sidewinder Turbo for the 2005/2006 4.0-liter-powered Jeep Wrangler may be just what you’ve been looking for.
A turbo kit offers altitude compensation, and can improve all-round drivability. Other means of increasing power dramatically, such as a stroker kit or supercharger, require complete engine removal or can place high stress on an otherwise stock engine. Watch the video above for action of a Jeep Wrangler with the new Banks Turbo kit installed, and an in-depth look at its performance.
The new turbocharger system is said to offer an increase in rear wheel power of up to 66.1 HP at 4,400 RPM (48.8 percent) and improve torque by up to 83.7 lb‐ft at 3,200 RPM (50.5 percent), while under a modest 6 PSI of boost pressure. And the torque output at 1600 RPM is claimed to be greater than the engine’s peak torque in stock condition. This torque profile is great for off-road trail driving and rock crawling, where low-end power is a must!
The Banks Ram‐Air intake system is available with an optional through-the-hood Super-Scoop. The Super-Scoop provides a cold-air path into the intake system. Both versions of the system are designed with a slightly higher than stock entry point, leaving no compromise for water fording. Banks also includes the AutoMind hand-held programmer for recalibration of the engine control unit (ECU).
Everything required for a complete installation is provided. The turbo system is compatible with both the Banks TorqueTubes and the Banks Monster Exhaust. For more information call (800) 601-8072 or visit www.bankspower.com/jeepturbo.
