2023 Is A Huge Year For The GMC Canyon AT4X With Edition 1 Package

2023 has been a busy year for GMC — the American auto manufacturer recently released the first model of the Canyon AT4X. It’s the latest truck in the Canyon lineup, which also includes the Elevation, Denali, and AT4. This lineup has been known for its luxury and off-road capabilities since its initial release and the AT4X looks to carry that legacy.

But that’s not all. GMC also gave fans a teaser of the 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV, which is not yet publicly available. Although the body was hidden from view, a few other crucial details gave the truck away. We can suspect it to have similar features as its “twin” Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 AEV Bison version.

Anyways we are here to focus on what the new Canyon AT4X has to offer, so let us take a closer look.

2023 Is A Huge Year For The GMC Canyon AT4X

2023 AT4X — The Biggest and Best Canyon Yet

GMC has designed the 2023 Canyon AT4X to be their most advanced off-road midsize truck ever. It has a larger body than the Elevation, Denali, and AT4, measuring 213 inches long, 75 inches wide, and 71-82 inches in height. It also has the biggest truck bed of the Canyon lineup at just over 61 inches long.

The AT4X is also the first Canyon model with an advanced chassis suspension technology that gives you more precise control in off-road environments — Multimatic DSSV dampers. You can find these dampers on race cars and other high-performance GM vehicles such as the Camaro and Colorado ZR2.

The Canyon AT4X will also be the only trim to offer the available Edition 1 package, which includes:

  • Front- and rear-facing underbody cameras with wash function
  • Off-road front bumper with safari bar
  • Front 30-inch off-road grille light bar
  • Winch by COMEUP
  • 17-inch beadlock capable wheels
  • Reconfigurable bed rail system
  • Performance front skid plate
  • Unique Edition 1 tailgate badge

The business end of the Canyon AT4X boasts a 3-inch factory-lifted, ultra-wide track to elevate the off-road performance and capability. Canyon AT4X comes standard with 33-inch MT tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear e-lockers, underbody skid plates and the AT4X-exclusive Baja drive mode.

Many other features of the AT4X show its focus on off-road driving performance. The four-cylinder 2.7L L3B Inline-4 turbo engine produces a high output of 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 6,000-pound towing capacity leaves some room for improvement, though. If you want max towing capacity, the Canyon AT4 is more capable at 7,700 pounds.

Inside the AT4X’s roomy four-door cab, you’ll find a sleek red-and-white interior trim with red seat belts that draw inspiration from the Corvette. The eight-speed automatic transmission makes for a smooth ride all drivers can handle. Although this truck is built for outdoor recreation, it can also serve as a capable family vehicle.

2023 Is A Huge Year For The GMC Canyon AT4X

GMC apparently has high expectations for the 2023 Canyon AT4X. Prices start at $55,000 and can reach as high as $70,000 if you want to add features like a sunroof, cargo lighting, and an off-road recovery kit. These are big numbers for a midsize truck, but the AT4X has all the makings of an elite off-road vehicle.

The Future Is Bright for the Canyon Lineup

The next 12 months will be huge for the Canyon lineup and the GMC brand as a whole. The future certainly looks bright, as the 2023 AT4X and the 2024 AT4X AEV have all the makings of high-performance off-road trucks. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information about the 2024 model in the coming months.
