Since its inception way back in 2009, Atturo Tire has made the truck and 4×4 automobile market a focal point of its operations, as it continues to cater to “…drivers around the world who embrace the freedom of the active outdoor lifestyle.” Recently, this statement was backed by the reveal of Atturo Tire’s new Trail Blade BOSS Green Label compound during the PRI Show’s “New Product Showcase,” This is the brand’s first venture into non-DOT tire production.
While it may feature the same intimidating tread design and bold sidewall of the regular Trail Blade BOSS, this off-road only version features a much softer tread compound that has been engineered exclusively for race and rock crawling scenarios.
Atturo Tire Trail Blade BOSS Green Label Construction
Borrowing the body design of the rugged Trail Blade BOSS, with its extra-thick, puncture resistant sidewalls and hulking tread lugs for increased low-psi grip and protection, Atturo Tires infused this new tires with a much stickier compound. This gives the Trail Blade BOSS Green Label owners on-demand grip at both high and low speeds. The performance driven compound also reaches peak operating temperature quicker, all while retaining the same superior cut resistance ratings and oversized soft tread blocks as the DOT compliant Trail Blade BOSS.
From what we’ve been able to glean, the Atturo Trail Blade BOSS Green Label compound will be made available to the public in two sizes straight out of the gate, with talk of more sizes coming thereafter. First round buyers can obtain the tire in either a 37×12.5R17 dimension or a beefier 40×13.5R17 size, both of which Atturo Tire put through its paces during this year’s King of the Hammers.
Atturo Tire’s sponsored Ultra4 driver, Edwin Abd took his Ultra4 4400 class buggy and outfitted it with a set of pre-production Green Label Tires for the main event at King of the Hammers, as he attempted to tackle the infamous “Race of Kings.” Here is what he had to say about how the Trail Blade BOSS Green Label rubber performed during this grueling event.
During both practice and qualifying, I noticed an immediate difference in the New Green Label Tires versus the D.O.T. [Trail Blade] BOSS. As soon as the tires began to slip, they quickly warmed up and gripped quickly, even on smooth slippery rock.
Atturo Tire Trail Blade BOSS Green Label Trail Performance Testimony
Perhaps even more important, is the fact that the Atturo team did not have to change a single tire throughout practice, qualifying, or race day during KOH. This speaks volumes about the durability and construction of this all-new Trail Blade BOSS Green Label. These compounds even made it possible for Abd to overcome a previously insurmountable obstacle, with the driver’s following statement serving as a testament to this fact.
“On Lap 2 on the ‘Wrecking Ball’ trail, there is a waterfall I have never been able to drive up prior,” Abd stated. “The only cars I had ever seen go up it without a winch line were comp buggies, but never an Ultra4 Car. With the [Trail Blade BOSS] Green Labels, I was able to drive right up, without even having my co-driver get out and spot me.”
Atturo Tires Continues To Support Off-Road Racers
