Polaris released its 2022 Off-Road Vehicle lineup highlighting design updates, technology advancements, performance increases, and safety features. Dominating the announcement was Polaris bringing its innovative Ride Command GPS and communication technology to an expanded lineup of vehicles. Including the new for 2022 Polaris Youth RZR 200 EFI, Ride Command will also be coming to special editions of the Sportsman 570 and XP 1000 ATVs, marking the first time Polaris has offered an ATV with built-in navigation.

Steve Menneto, president of Off-Road at Polaris said “Whether it’s introducing youth riders to RZR, bringing advanced tech to ATVs, elevating the mid-size utility segment or designing a purpose-built General that takes trail adventure to a higher level, we’re constantly pushing forward with offerings that empower both new and existing riders to do the same.”

Released in 2016 and receiving constant updates, Ride Command is effectively Polaris’ answer to “How can technology improve your outdoor experience?” The app can be downloaded to any smartphone and is available from the factory on select vehicles with glove-touch enabled 7” screens. Using GPS satellites, the system is capable of tracking waypoints, leaving cookie crumb trails, and can even send text messages between vehicles outside of cell service. By expanding the technology into their youth offerings, Polaris is providing parents a way to give their kids freedom to ride while also maintaining some peace of mind. The app also features speed limiting and geofencing to provide parents with real-time access and control over where and how fast their children are allowed to drive.

Off Road Xtreme visited with Neil Adams, ATV Project Coordinator for Bert’s Mega Mall in Azusa. “Ride Command is an excellent user experience,” he explained. “Bringing this technology to ATVs and the youth segment is a great move. COVID created a renewed interest in off-road and this technology will allow the entire family to safely ride together.” The all-new RZR 200 EFI, replaces the outgoing 170 EFI and adds more than just a few CCs.

2022 Polaris Youth RZR 200 EFI

Brand new for 2022 is a feature Polaris is calling Helmet Aware Technology. The system is capable of preventing the RZR from starting if it does not sense a helmet close enough to the vehicle. While there’s nothing in the technology that requires the helmet to actually be worn, the presence of the system is a welcome addition for parents. Designed to grow with your kids, the RZR features a tilting steering wheel and sliding seats. All of the advancements only increase the price $500 over the 2021 model and the RZR 200 EFI starts at $5,899.

All-new 2022 Polaris RZR Pro XP Sport

For 2022, the rest of the RZR lineup remains mostly unchanged, with a few new colors and performance bumps as the only notable changes. Polaris is, however, changing the naming structure of the lineup with the XP Turbo being replaced by the Pro XP Sport. Touting eight percent more horsepower and two extra inches of travel, the new RZR Pro XP Sport starts at $21,999. Says Reid Wilson, Vice President of RZR, “We’re providing a more powerful, turbocharged entry point to the Multi-Terrain lineup and that’s something we know customers will appreciate.”

2022 Polaris Ranger 570 SP Updated

In addition to expanding Ride Command offerings, Polaris is debuting an all-new lineup for the Ranger 570 SP utility side-by-side. “Our customers lead a busy lifestyle and they don’t want to compromise on doing good quality work and enjoying time with the family,” said Chris Judson, Vice President of Ranger, General and ATV.  “The Ranger SP 570 was designed so they don’t have to make these tradeoffs; it’s great for work, fun to ride and the perfect fit.” Upgrades for 2022 include a new Prostar 570 engine delivering 1500 pounds of towing capacity; an improved turning radius and a 30 percent increase in the cargo box volume. Offered as two-seat or four-seat “crew” models, the Ranger SP 570 starts at $10,499. The top of the line model, the Crew Northstar, starts at $19,499 and includes a fully enclosed cab and heating.

Rhino-Rack Partnership

Polaris also announced a partnership with accessories manufacturer Rhino-Rack to release a set of mounts and racks for the Ranger and General. The mounts can be used to secure tools and various Rhino-Rack accessories. The available accessories include a Spare Tire Holder, Multi-Purpose Tool Holder, Traction Board Mount, Gun Mounting Bracket, Cargo Corner Bracket, and Trail Jack Mount.
